Degree Plan; EXTRA CREDIT

In order to accomplish my main focused goal, I must be fully committed and dedicated to my academic achievement. Being able to receive an Engineering Degree is one of the most challenging task any college student can try to obtain, however one of the most beneficial and rewarding as well. What makes this degree so hard are the high level of GE courses and pre-requisites that a student must pass in order to be allowed to get into his/her major. An engineer must complete 130 units to graduate. They are recommended to take between 18 and 16 units a semester for four years. Completing the degree in five years is also known as on time. Since, I have started by taking remedial math I plan to graduate in five years instead of four. In order to do so I must pass all my courses as scheduled. I will need to complete Calc. 1, 2 and 3 then take two semesters of differential equations. I am also one semester behind in my English class so I will need to complete that semester and take English 1A, 1B and an Engineering English course (100w). I plan on taking my English 1A and 1B online since every English course is so packed because of the limited amount of room. This semester I will take 19 units. 14 of them will be at state and the other 5 will be online which will include my English 1A and my general area D1. During the summer I will complete another six units online which will include my English 1B and my general areas D2 and C1. My main concern right now is my math courses due to the high level of classes I must complete. I also plan on taking such a great number of courses till I catch up to a four year plan level. This will help just in case I happen to fail a class, not that those are my intentions. This will also allow me to change my mind a couple years down the road just in case I decide to graduate in four years. Overall my courses are challenging but there are plenty of outside resources I can go get help from if I choose to. So, Failure should not be an option.

  1. If you can stay on top of all your classes like you have with this class, you should do fine. Just take care with the online classes -- you'll need to stay organized and self-disciplined to do well.
