Scholarly Journal Article Summary#1: REVISED

For my Scholarly Journal Article I chose to read “Climbing a Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin’s Celtic Embrace” written by Kent Drummond, the author goes on to ask the public how come Zeppelin became so admired during the 70’s and why he’s remembered and viewed as such a powerful icon till this day. The author states that the major key to Zeppelins outstanding success was the unfolding of musical exchange from 1971 to 1973, (formally known to the public as Celtic Influences). After several years of review Drummond came to the conclusion that the transformation from a dark heavy blues sound to a lighter more rhythm flowing sound was what allowed their career to set off. Zeppelin played, dressed, and did what his fans wanted to see be done and not what media expected him to do. They stood out and were different than every other band, didn’t live the whole rich, flashy and glamourize lifestyle like other bands. Everyone likes change so when they transformed the fans just fell in love with their music and them. This whole change transformation was done by their marketing manager Peter Grant, who played a big role in their success story. Led Zeppelin is viewed as one of the greatest musicians.

  1. Interesting article, but this is not a scholarly journal article. We'll discuss this in class.
